FALL FOLIAGE - Nature’s most colourful show.
Very few places on earth have the USA and Canada’s unique mixture of fall weather, and in particular the New England States. Their variety of tree species, and rugged terrain combine to produce Nature’s wondrous display of Autumn leaves.
The cooler shorter days of October and November cause the leaves to change colour as the green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves of the poplar, oak, beech and birch trees turning them to rich gold, brown, and yellow, while the sugars trapped in the leaves bring out the reds and purples in the Maple trees.
While Mother Nature predicts when this will happen, you can expect to see peak colour in the Mountains from the North to the South from October through to early November.
